Police Healthcare Scheme

The Police Healthcare Scheme has been established since 1979 and has evolved from that date to the thriving enterprise that it has become today, helping many thousands of police officers, police staff and their families to benefit from first class private healthcare.

The PHS TeamThe scheme is the largest independent scheme within the police service and is unique in that it is run by the police family for the police family with no shareholders and minimal administration costs.

The scheme originated within the West Midlands and although at its inception was to benefit serving police officers that has now been extended to continue through and into retirement. We pride ourselves on giving ‘cradle to grave’ cover where other similar schemes refuse. The scheme has flourished and now covers partners and children up to 18 years of age, police support staff and their families.

The primary aim of the scheme is to provide private healthcare that is not readily accessible on the NHS, using hospitals whose surroundings are comfortable and pleasant with the best possible medical attention.

The Police Healthcare Scheme is now a national scheme and police officers and staff from any force within England and Wales are entitled to join what is a thriving non-profit making scheme.
